  • Aabdeekam

    $120.00

Shradhyan kriyate ya saa Shradh – the ritual performed with great devotion or shraddha is called shradh or abdeekam. The term ‘Shradh’ is completely linked with Maya (The Great Illusion) and Brahman (the Creator) through the bond of debts that need to be repaid to ancestors. When the threads of the give and take relationship that binds us, dissolve, then at that time the embodied soul gets liberated and only then it can acquire momentum to progress towards attaining Final liberation. Therefore, through the ritual of Shradh one can get rid of the bonding with ancestors and get liberated in this birth itself under observer stance of the followers of Vishnu. Hindu scriptures gave so much importance to Shradh that one is supposed to stop any karma to perform shraddha first. It is misgiving that shraddha can not be performed at home – in fact, it shall be performed at home unless there is some serious issue. And finally, at least once in a lifetime the pinda danam shall be performed in Kashi and Gaya.

In case aabdeekam dates fall during the rush period of functions like marriages or on important days like Maha Shivarathri etc , please book your time slot well in advance for purohits.

Laxmi Puja on Diwali should be done during Pradosh Kaal that begins with sunset and last for 1 hours and 56 minutes approximately. It is believed that Lakshmi visits her devotees and bestows gifts and blessings upon each of them on this evening. To welcome the Goddess, devotees clean their houses, decorate them with finery and lights, and prepare sweet treats and delicacies as offerings. In the South, people celebrate the festivity during chathurdasi, before amavasya day. They wake up early in the morning and have a holy bath using ‘ubtan’ (a paste of natural ingredients), they then apply a mix of ‘kumkum’ and oil over their foreheads, before proceeding for prayers to Lord Krishna. It is believed that worshipping Lord Krishna on this day brings immense good luck, prosperity, and wards off any evil presence in life. And on Deewali day, crackers are fired to celebrate Victory of Lord Krishna over Narakasura. In Bengal Lokkhi Pujo or Laxmi puja is performed on Sharada Purnima day, the full moon day following Vijaya Dashami. According to the Parasara Gryha Sutra, at the beginning of the ceremony, the pregnant wife seats on a soft chair and with caressing attention, the husband himself parts her hairs upwards from the forehead three times, first with a bunch containing an even number of unripe udumbara fruits and three bunches of darbha grass, next with a porcupines quill (available plenty in Srisailam) having three white spots and finally with a stick of the Viratara wood and a full spindle, chanting each time three Mahavyahrtis (great mystical mantras), Bhur, Bhuvah and Svah.

    Skanda Shashti Puja

    $60.00

Subrahmanya or Skanda Shshati is about Skanda janan as described in the Mahabharatha, Shiva Purana, Valmiki Ramayan and is retold in Kalidasa’s Kumara Sambhavam. Chandogya Upanishad identifies Skanda as Sanat Kumara. Tormented by the asura Tarakasura, the devas with Indra at their head went to Lord Brahma and the Creator said only the spark of Shiva can produce the hero who will defeat the powers of the evil. Unfortunately, Shiva, The king of yogis was lost in a deep state of meditation and samadhi. None of the Devas dared to disturb him, least of all convince him to create a progeny.
Upon Brahma’s suggestion, they sought the help of Parvati and Kama (the god of love). Parvati agreed to help and engaged herself in severe penance to attract Shiva’s attention. Kama also agreed to help and engaged himself in the suicidal mission of arousing Shiva from His state of Samadhi. Kama shot his arrows of love at Shiva who was eventually disturbed and the fire of anger from Shiva’s third eye burnt Kama into ashes.
The penance of Parvati and the sacrifice of Kama paid off. Shiva was aroused from his Samadhi. However, none could bear the sparks of His fiery seed. It fell into the mouth of Agni, and afterwards was received by Ganges, who in turn threw it into Sara Vana (forest of arrow like grass). Thus, Saravanabava was born. He was also Skanda – Shiva’s power of chastity preserved through penance.
Skanda was raised by the six mothers of the divine constellation of Krithika. Hence the name Karthikeya who divided himself into six babies to be nursed by six mothers. When Parvati came and gathered all the six babies, He became Shanmukha – the one with the six faces and one body.
Puja of Skanda or Subrahmanya is to beget progeny and also for prospecrity of children.

    Sri Satyanarayana Vratham

    $35.00

Satyanarayana vratham is to be vratha of Lord Narayana. As the stories of this vratham indicate – satyam jnanam anantham brahma – the emphasis is on sat or Reality or unfailing truth or keeping one’s commitments. The – vr – in this vratham is to think carefully before making a commitment and once made – rta – to keep it at any cost without negligence or taking it easy.

According to Hindu scriptures, Ekadasi and movement of the moon have a direct correlation with the human mind. It is believed that during Ekadasi, our mind attains maximum efficiency giving the brain a better capacity to concentrate. Spiritual seekers are said to devote the two monthly days of Ekadasi in extreme worship and meditation owing to its favorable influence on the mind. It also checks the emotions and senses. From this 11th day till 5th day after new moon or full moon day, moon is supposed to influence our mind maximum. Even in astrology Moon is karaka for mind!!!

Therefore, Satyanaryana Vratham or for that matter any ritual related to Lord Vishnu – the chaitanya shakthi within us – gives extreme importance to ekadasi and/or Purnima.

“chatarvarsham vratham krtva adimadhya mathah param
    Udayapanam rtham ena sampoorna phalaayakam”

Meaning that a person who performs Satyanarayana vratham for four full years on a full Moon day will be endowed with wealth, progeny, prosperity and gets liberated in the end.

One can well imagine that if the person makes and keeps commitments with diligence will surely be respected in all walks of life and will become a yogi at the end.

It is to remind us of such importance of keeping commitments, this vratham is performed at every important phase of our life – especially after marriage to ensure that whatever promises bride and groom made to each other with agni as witness, will keep those commitments without fail throughout their lives.

    Sri Suktha Parayana

    $15.00

Sri Suktam is a Sanskrit sacred devotional hymn revering Sri as Laksmi, the goddess of prosperity, wealth, and fertility. This hymn is chanted with a strict adherence to the Chandas, to invoke the goddess’ blessings. The hymn describes the nama, rupa, swaroopa, greatness of goddess Sri Lakshmi. Goddess Laksmi is also the personification of the spiritual energy called kuṇḍalini within us and the Universe. The Sanskrit word “kundalini” means coiled, like a snake. Goddess Lakshmi is God’s superior spiritual feminine energy or the Param Prakṛti, which empowers, purifies, and uplifts the individual. Thus, Laksmi is called the Goddess of Fortune. The goddess assumed 8 forms, known as “ASHTA LAKSHMI” to eradicate poverty of 8 kinds. Our scriptures say that a human being can face poverty on 8 fronts, one can eradicate all types of poverty with the divine blessings of Shri Lakshmi. This mantra is a powerful prayer in which the radiance, glory, beauty, all forms of the Goddess Lakshmi, her motherhood, her divinity, her blessings have been personified. Sundara Kanda

Lord Shiva in Umasamhitha has told that even Adhi sesha cannot describe benefits of reading the entire Sundara Kanda. He said that even he can only summarize the greatness of Sundara Kanda because to tell in detail, only the great Lord Ramachandra is capable. Similar to the fact that God Rama is the greatest among Devas, similar to the fact that Kalpaga tree is greatest among trees, similar to the fact that the Kousthubha gem is greatest among gems, in Ramayana, Sundara Kanda is the greatest chapter. Such is the importance of Sundara Kanda Parayana. The entire essence of Ramayana is summarized in Sundarakaṇḍa and each sloka of it is considered as a mantra. If one looks at fulfilment of pure mundane dharmic needs like marriage, children, employment, prosperity etc, to complete self-realization, the ultimate state a human being can aspire to, Parayana of Sundara Kanda is supposed to take one to the goal. Sundara Kanda is also hailed as “mala manthra”. Tulasidas describes Lord Hanuman as Guru. Such a Guru clears the path for Jeevathma – Maa Sitha – to reach Paramathma – Lord Ram when Jeevathma is taken away by negative forces like ego, lust, anger etc which are manifested by Ravana inside us and Jeevathma is longing to get back to Paramathma.

Since it is such a powerful and extremely fulfilling Parayana, the sadhaka shall adhere to strictest regimen, as mentioned before, like keeping mind from all negative thoughts and actions, taking only sathvic food and drinks, observing strict brahmacharya etc.

Price: We do not want to give any price unless we discuss in detail pre-requisites with the person wishing to get this Parayana done.

    Upanayanam

    $285.00

Upanayanam is one of the most important Samskaras. “Upa” means ‘close’ and “Nayanam” means ‘to bring’. Upanayanam means to bring closer to the Guru or Divine. Upanayanam also known as the ‘sacred thread ceremony’ and is performed to mark the commencement of formal education in the Vaidic tradition. It is an initiation process to learn the sacred Gayatri Mantra. Upanayanam ceremony includes the wearing of Yajnopavitam (sacred thread) on the body.

The Gayatri mantra is one of the greatest prayers mankind has. Gayathri is same form as Durga, Lalitha, Kamakshi etc. It is said repeatedly that once Upanayanam is done Gayathri manthra must be chanted three times a day at sunrise, mid-day, and sunset till death of the person. Even if any other prayer is postponed/delayed/not chanted, it is a must that one chants Gayathri Manthra after Upanayanam.
Manthra is defined as – manana thrayethe ithi manthra – meaning one must chant inside him without moving lips. We should never ever recite manthra – especially Gayathri Manthra for any other to listen. In olden times Gayathri Manthra used to be chanted by women also but now-a-days only men who have gone through Upanayanam are supposed to chant.

As Sri Sri Ravishankar said Gayatri Japa means – let my intellect be inspired by the Divine. It is our intellect which blocks the vast Divinity from expressing itself fully in life. So, the prayer is – may the Divine inspire my intellect; may the Supreme Energy manifest in my life and in my intellect.” During Upanayanam three threads are placed across the shoulder and the threads signify that one has the responsibility towards knowledge, parents and society. It signifies carrying our responsibilities.

Vivaham : Meaning of Vivaham Manthras

    Pricing based on package

In Hindu dharma, Vivah or marriage is viewed as a sacrament and not a contract. Hindu marriage is a life-long commitment of one wife and one husband and is the strongest social bond that takes place between a man and a woman. Grahastha Ashram (the householder stage), the second of the four stages of life begins when a man and a woman marry and start a household. For a Hindu, marriage is the only way to continue the family and thereby repay his debt to his/her ancestors by begetting male child to carry gothram. In Hindu view, marriage is not a concession to human weakness, but a means for spiritual growth. Man and woman are soul mates who, through the institution of marriage, can direct the energy associated with their individual instincts and passion into the progress of their souls. Husband must follow Dharma and wife is saha dharma charini. During vivah, the manthras recited repeatedly address groom to assure his father-in-law that he needs a wife to perform Gruhasthu dharmas which he cannot perform without a wife – so he needs a wife whom he will treat as equal and she will be his saha dharma charini. And after Muhurtham and Mangal Suthra from when they become husband and wife, each one promises the other various things like begetting son to continue gothram, looking after parents, taking care of athidhis, feeding poor etc.
In Hindu Vivah institution there is no system or method by which the bond can be separated. This micro-structure – a strong brick in societal house – is the one that keeps Hindu homes safer for children to grow in full and realize their potential with full security, love and affection and ensures that the children do not turn to violence.

Please check for prices based on needs like availability of desired venue, venue fixing, catering, decorations, number of days, number of purohits and vedic scholars for reciting vedic hyms, videos, photos etc.
